The warm weather this week will knock down a lot of snow on the course. We won’t ruin it this time by speculating on an opening day. We expect to get staff on the course next week to begin removing flax straw from the greens. If there's enough warm weather most of the flax could be removed by the end of next week. leaving just the tarps to remove sometime in the week of April 24th.
The good about the cold weather behind us is that it worked well for tree removal. Crews were able to get on the course to remove larger cuttings with a bobcat and trucks while the ground was still frozen. Smaller clean-up will happen when the course is dry, and stumps will be dealt with after the course opens. Wood is available for free pick-up in the parking lot, but be careful trying to move any larger pieces.
Alex Schenn won the annual Masters Pool. His picks were a combined (5/6 players) 25 under par. Chris Mearns was second at 20 under par using the tiebreaker ahead of Matthew Cameron in third place. Alex Schenn had Rahm, Henley and Reed, while Chris Mearns had Rahm, Hovland, Theegala, and Fitzpatrick. Winnings will be available in the office on Wednesday. The pool raised over $1000 for SGCC Junior Golf.
On the Junior Program, all information including orientation dates have been added to the website. The Junior Academy add-on is a great value again this year as Juniors get an Academy logo string bag and Kailani water bottle, plus the golf-lesson camp and new rules seminars. There is space available in the Junior Academy and a few spots left for Junior Memberships. For those in the program, sign-up information is <HERE>.
The restaurant has a few functions and meetings as we get staff trained and prepare to open. Full Menu Service will be available in the Restaurant on Wednesday, April 26th.
Remember, the Pro Shop will be closed today and tomorrow for counter renovations and work in club storage to get ready for the season.
The office is open from 8:30-4:30 Monday to Friday.
The Pro Shop will be open again Wednesday to Friday this week and then 7-days a week starting next Monday for club drop-off.
