The PGA of Saskatchewan Zone Championship was played at SGCC Monday & Tuesday this week. Thanks to all the volunteers and staff who put on a great event for 30 club professionals from around the province. It’s a little strange to put my name here…but the Overall (and Senior) Champion was McLaren Taylor. Runner up in the same Overall and Senior divisions was Randy Volk. Bobbi Brandon won the Women's Championship, and our own Sloane Harder is the Assistants Champion. All the players were thankful for the opportunity to play at SGCC, and had great things to say about the course, meals, and hospitality.

The Restaurant Menu is a little different starting tomorrow. New items include a BBQ Bacon Swiss Burger, Philly Cheesesteak, Crab Cakes, Summer Crunch Salad, and Raman Cabbage Salad. The Breakfast and Mains menus are unchanged.

Men’s Night next week is sponsored by Wiegers Financial (Michael Carss) and Blue Cross (Jason Halyk). By the way, the Men’s Night Page includes a link to the Season-Long Ringer Board and upcoming dates and sponsor list.

Women’s Night Next Week is sponsored by Callaway Golf (Kyle Duffin). By the way, last night’s Women’s Night had close to 60 participants.

Space in the Club Championship sponsored by Affinity Credit Union is still available with registration <HERE> on Golf Genius.

At the risk of contradicting a previous message about patience…we want to remind everyone that a round of golf should take 4-hours or less. Obviously, that's not certain when the course is really full, or the thermostat is boiling over. But please keep the “4-hours or less” target in mind, particularly those groups with guests. Just 30 seconds less on every tee and green can save 18 minutes on a round of golf.

The grounds crew is just finishing up the last bunkers on the back-9 including hole #12 and #18. With fewer and smaller bunkers on the front-9, Terry is hoping to have this project complete before the labour crew begins to shrink in September.

Green aeration is scheduled for August 8th. There will be less impact this year as only the back-9 greens will be aerated. A regular lottery will occur for 18-hole play starting at 1:00. Tee-times before 1:00 will be for 9-holes, and can be booked by calling the Pro Shop after the lottery is posted.

And on the power cart fleet, we hope to have some news on a delivery date soon. That could be a delivery later in August or early September…we hope. In the meantime, thanks for your patience regarding the state of our existing older fleet. We looked at sourcing new seats and considered upholstery repair, but couldn’t find a suitable solution either way. We do look forward to sending these carts away as part of the new 60-cart purchase, and the new carts are sure to be a quieter and smoother ride when they arrive.

Have a Great Weekend.
