Lots of comments this week about the Fall weather. At times, it feels (and looks) more like Summer around the course. That said, the days keep getting shorter. Mowers were still going strong this week, using headlights as they started work in the darkness. Then of course, this morning brought a seasonal reminder, as a thick layer of frost held the mowers back.

Thanksgiving supper on Sunday is sold-out. With great weather and a full golf course, we should point out that space will be tight for anyone dropping in for menu service on Sunday evening. Staffing in general has also been challenging lately with some staff under the weather and replacements out of town. We appreciate your patience.

The Annual Member Survey went out on Tuesday this week, with a reminder email yesterday. Thanks to the 289 members who have already participated. If you haven’t taken the survey yet…it’s available <HERE>.

Remember that the golf course and restaurant will be closing next weekend, as October 20th is the last day. Clubs must be taken home for the winter, and lockers cleaned out and left open…if you want it cleaned over the winter. And again, October is our year end. Your charge account should be up to date by the end of the month. Accounts that are over 30 days past due incur interest each month…and past due accounts that carry into in November sometimes receive an awkward call from the auditors.

Watch for an email next week regarding 2025 membership dues, and payment plans including the monthly option and pre-payment incentive draws.

With no holes-in-one this week, and the season coming to an end, we’re all left to wonder…is that it? Maybe like a fireworks show, Josh MacGowan’s ace on #7 last week was the “big finish”? If that’s the case, I’d say the show was a little low budget this year. But maybe as the crowd starts to walk away...there will be one or two blasts to talk about next week.

Fun Fact: Our water usage in 2024 is down more than 40% from recent years as we purchased just under 21 million gallons in 2024. That’s with 310 mm of rain according to our weather station. From 2021-2023 we averaged 38 million gallons...with rainfall of 173 mm.

The weather station also provided temperature “highs” for each day going back to 2010. This year had 23 days of 30 degrees or more, while the 3-years prior averaged 29 days. Looking at the 10 years from 2011-2020, the average was just 7 days of 30 degrees or more.

2010 really stood out on the report, as our weather station recorded 627 mm of rainfall. In turn, we purchased 0 gallons of water. Terry has maps and such to explain the drainage system, and how rainfall is recovered back to the holding pond…but I started thinking about turkey dinner while he was explaining so I'll circle back on that later.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving Weekend!
