The 119th Canadian Men’s Amateur wrapped up at Riverside yesterday with 16-year old Tyler Mawhinney winning with a score of 15 under par. A full recap of the final round is available <HERE>.
A huge thanks to all the organizers and volunteers who made the event possible. Emails and messages are just starting to come in, and they are overwhelmingly positive. So many of the Players and Golf Canada Staff made a point of saying that Saskatoon put on one of the best tournaments they had ever experienced.
Special thanks to all the Committee Chairs for giving their time, and to Craig Sled (Riverside Chair) and our own Warren Proctor (SGCC Chair and SGCC President) for their leadership and countless hours behind the scenes. By all accounts, it was tremendous success.
The Partner’s Tournament, presented by Cherry Insurance is the next big Club Tournament running from August 31-September 2. Information on the format is available on the SGCC Majors page. It’s a “Best Ball”, “Scramble”, “Best Ball” format, flighted after round 2, with separate Men’s and Women’s Divisions. Entries are open now. Enter <HERE> on Golf Genius.
Congratulations to Bill Yano on his hole-in-one Wednesday on Hole #12.
Flags were lowered this week for the sudden passing of Bob Brown. Bob was a member of SGCC for 45-years and was active until this year. A celebration of life will be held here at the club on Tuesday August 18th from 2-5pm.
