Last week’s Member Update went out around this time and did not capture some late-breaking hole-in-one news. For the second time this year, we had 2 holes-in-one on the same day, as Terry (Tee) Friesen and Rob Connoly both scored aces on the 6th hole last Friday. Since then, Kyle Dopko added a hole-in-one on July 28th (hole #6) and Brian Humble got another on hole #8…July 30th. That’s good work to double our season total in just a week…still 12 short of last year, but moving in the right direction.
A big thanks to Jeanette Thompson for leading a small crew of staff in Wednesday’s weeding blitz. She really showed us how it’s done…and the clubhouse beds look great!
The final qualifier is on right now at Riverside CC. Several SGCC Members are among the 46 players trying to earn one of the last few spots into next week’s Canadian Men’s Amateur. **Remember that the course and all practice areas are closed tomorrow through Tuesday.
The restaurant remains open for members and guests throughout the next 4 days. Restaurant hours will be our regular 9am opening tomorrow and Sunday, followed by 6am openings on Monday and Tuesday.
Member Statements for July are being processed now and will be sent this afternoon. Watch the notices on the statement page for any notifications about outstanding amounts and potential interest on charges more then 60 days overdue. The office will be closed to regular business on the holiday Monday, and open again for member inquiries and payments on Tuesday. Remember that payments can be made by e-transfer, or through your online banking site using Saskatoon Golf Country Club as the payee.
Fun Facts…Rounds Played: August is off to a busy start with 308 players on the tee-sheet today and 283 yesterday. July is behind us now, at 7458 rounds in 31 days. That's 240 players/day on average, and down a just a little compared to last July. In case you're wondering, the July average was 155 players/day 5-years ago and more than 240 every year since.
Our year-to-date rounds were obviously affected by the May/June weather, at 20,504 through the end of July.…down 8% from last year.
And in individual rounds, the top 10 members in “rounds played” currently range from 70 to 88 rounds...in the 98 days we've been open so far.
