The end of our hole-in-one drought is the lead story this week, thanks to Don George...Wednesday, on hole #8. Congratulations Don! With that, we pause the story on the tater tots and sides for now…except to say the Don prefers sweet potato fries. As per the SGCC "Club Fee", Don receives $150 in F&B credit (spent) and a custom engraved Yeti tumbler.

The Club Championship, presented by Affinity Credit Union is on this weekend with 103 competitors including the Adult, Senior, and Junior divisions. Tee-times are 7am to 12:30, with information and scoring available <HERE> on Golf Genius. Good luck to all the competitors.

Next week’s Men’s Night and Women’s Night are cancelled due to the ICR Tournament. The entire upstairs will be utilised on Tuesday for the Charity Auction, with golf and banquet taking up the full day on Wednesday. Any Senior Men willing to assist with scoring should sign-up on the Senior Men's bulleting board in the locker room

Also, another course maintenance event is scheduled for next Thursday morning, as the course will be closed for additional work on the greens until 8am.

The ladies fun tournament “Senioritas and Margaritas” has 20 teams entered, or 40 players so far. It’s a 2-person “shamble” format, scored as a “better-ball”. It’s a Saturday afternoon (2pm) shotgun, and so it’s only open to SGCC Members and registered members of the Wednesday Women’s Night. Register <HERE> on Golf Genius.

Towel service in the locker rooms has been a challenge with the recent heat wave. We apologise for not having towels available at certain times this week. The cleaners are laundering towels at night, while we supplement the work during the day with our own washer/dryer. On the number of towels…inventory was doubled in June, and we added another 30 yesterday, but seem to have the same number that we started the season. If anyone is keeping a towel in their locker, it would be helpful to get it back in the system each night.

A reminder went out yesterday regarding volunteers for the Canadian Men’s Amateur. Most areas are well covered, but the Transportation Committee has a shortage of drivers. Mainly, this will be driving between courses, using courtesy vehicles. There’s a bit of paperwork and a short online course, but the requirements are manageable. If you aren’t already volunteering elsewhere, and can assist as a driver, there’s a *NEW volunteer portal <HERE>.

Remember that the golf course and all practice areas will be closed August 3-6 for Saturday/Sunday practice rounds and Monday/Tuesday competitive rounds.

Fun Fact: The range ball pyramids recently went from a 7x7 base to 8x8, which takes the total number of balls in each pyramid from 140 to 204. That’s an increase of just over 45%, and too many balls to hit in this weather.

Have a Great Weekend.
