It looks like summer is finally coming around, with highs of 25-32 degrees over the next 14-days. With that, we should see the rough spots fill-in quickly. A big thanks to the grounds crew for all the time they've spent over-seeding and plugging the rough patches. It's a multi-step process to move a good patch from the fringe into a rough spot...then bring a plug from the nursery to fill in the spot on the fringe. That way, we're able to patch the rough spots with grass from the same green, and not put the rough patches back on the fringes.
Canadian Men’s Amateur – August 3-8
  • The course (SGCC) will be closed for play August 3-6, including all practice areas and the 3-hole loop. Members are encouraged to get involved as a volunteer or come out to watch some great golf.
  • August 3 & 4 are official practice rounds.
  • Note: We expect a few players may request a round in the weeks leading up to the tournament. We will try to accommodate those as needed from July 26-August 1, leaving August 2nd as a member only day.
  • August 5 & 6 are the first and second rounds prior to the cut...played at both SGCC and Riverside CC.
Requests for billets are up from previous years, and if anyone is interested in housing one of the players there is further information <HERE> and a sign-up link <HERE> for players 19 & over. Separate information for players Under 19 is <HERE> with a sign-up link <HERE>

Fun Fact (from Kayla)…Tater-Tots are available as a side for breakfast, lunch, and supper. They’re also good in soup, but I do find there’s timing needed to make that work. Upon further investigation, your standard Tee-Off Breakfast (still our biggest seller) comes with regular or shredded hash browns…or tater tots. For many of our lunch and dinner items, sides include hand-cut fries, cross-track fries, sweet potato fries, lager chips, onion rings, and now tater tots. Of course, for some people…there’s salad.
On another note...the Hole-In-One count this year is down...and frankly a little weird. At this time last year, we had 12 holes-in-one, including 1 guest. This year, we have 3?...including 1 guest. The first two (members) were back-to-back groups on hole #15, and the third (a guest) was also on hole #15 in the same week. It's interesting, but at the same time it's old news. It would be nice to see something new in this area for next week. Otherwise, there could be more about tater tots and restaurant sides.
Have a Great Weekend
