Beautiful fall weather looks like it’s going to continue through the weekend and potentially through the rest of the month. With that, course projects are progressing on schedule. New tee boxes on #15 and #18 are taking shape, and sod-stripping for the putting green began today (photo below). So far, the contractors are comfortable with traffic around these areas and there is little disruption to our regular play.
Speaking of regular traffic, total rounds played through at the end of August were just over 29,000 for an average of 231 players per day. September has been busy too, averaging 191 players per day on shorter days. The daily average is up a few rounds over last year...but nearly 50 rounds per day more than 2019.
With cooler weather on its way, we’re bound to have a frost delay before close-up. Remember, under the new frost policy, play will begin with the first tee-time booked after the course opens. Times that have passed have an opportunity to re-book into any openings later in the day, or play the back-nine when it becomes available. Access to the back-nine also depends on frost and maintenance requirements. The primary reason for the change in frost policy is extended delays that result from pushing times back, and slow play that occurs as groups are pushed out too fast in an effort to catch-up.
