No holes-in-one this week…just one missed a few weeks back. Congratulations to Tom Kroeker on his hole-in-one August 4th on hole #12.
News on the Club’s financial position was provided at yesterday’s August Board Meeting. July 31st marked the end of our third quarter, and the Q3 statements provide a very good look at where we will land at year-end. Financials through July confirm another very good year for SGCC, thanks to a full membership roster, increases in guest play, merchandise sales, and F&B volume. Our F&B in particular continues to exceed budget revenue and net income expectations. Expenses are in line or under budget across departments, including course maintenance…despite the July water bill!
With current capital purchases and course projects funded on prior income, a strong performance again this year will fund future improvement projects and vital equipment replacement. The Board and Management would like to thank the SGCC Membership for continued support.
In case you missed it...a Special Announcement was made on August 4th regarding tee-box renovations and a new putting green next to the 1st tee. More on the projects and design drawings are available <HERE>. We are meeting with the contractors on Monday to discuss mobilization plans and construction timelines. Watch for announcements in the coming weeks on any re-routing of cart traffic and alternate tee-box usage. The project is set to begin on September 5th.
The waitlist to join SGCC has been growing in the past few weeks. With a full roster and shorter days ahead, there are no plans for a fall-play promotion, but anyone interested in joining next year should be advised to contact the office for further information on 2024.
Note on Frost Policy: It seems early to mention this, but our policy on managing frost delays will be changing this fall. In the event of a frost delay, play will begin with the first tee time after the frost lifts rather than starting with earlier times and pushing everyone back.
Why the change? With fuller tee sheets in recent years, there is little chance of making up time, and morning delays are affecting times well into the afternoon. Under the new policy, anyone with a booking lost due to frost will have an option to re-book later or play the back nine when it becomes available.
Junior Reminder: The Junior Club Championship is on Tuesday/Wednesday next week. Juniors looking to compete in the 36-hole stroke play event can sign-up <HERE>. Tournament experience is recommended. There will be a BBQ Windup on Wednesday August 22 at 4:00 that all juniors can attend. Play on the 3-hole loop will be organized on Wednesday prior to the windup snacks, drinks and closest to the pin games. Sign-up for the wind-up is <HERE>
Senioritas and Margaritas is our First Annual Ladies Fun Golf Tournament on August 27th. It's a shotgun start at 2:00 with on-course games and hospitality. The format is a 2-player “Shamble” or “Modified Best-Ball”. Both players tee-off, then choose the best drive, and play their own ball from there until holed and count the best score.
The entry fee is $30 for and includes a meal and prizes. Wednesday Women’s League players and guests pay a $60 green fee plus $30 entry fee. All fees are charged to your club account.
The draw will be visible when you register so that you can join with another two-some or enter as a group of 2-teams playing together. Enter <HERE> on Golf Genius.
Have a Great Weekend.
