Member Update

5/19/2023

After a few days of spring-like weather, It’s great to see the warm temperatures coming back this weekend. Since the last update, our F&B survived the largest ever Mother’s Day Brunch. Kayla, Pat and the whole team did a great job serving 349 guests. A big thanks to everyone involved…especially Alex on dishes!

Daily F&B Specials <HERE> are in effect now. Visit the Dining Page on our website for links to the menus and specials.

  • Regular Sunday Brunches are from 10-1 all summer
  • Father’s Day is All You Can Eat Ribs from 5:30pm-8:30pm…and Sunday Brunch of course
  • Save the Date for the SGCC Patio Party on June 23rd

We’ve been working through an issue with our draft beer system since opening day. After a series of cooler repairs and other system tweaks, we modified the air circulation yesterday, which should keep the kegs colder and hopefully fix the problem.

Maintenance updates include an application of growth regulator on the greens this week, and a rare “bunker removal” on hole #7.

As background, the course engaged a course consultant last spring to provide feedback on several areas. Since the 7th hole has always been a hot topic, there was a suggestion to remove the front right bunker to make the hole more playable. Faced with a difficult tee shot, and a very difficult second shot, the hole can be very penal for the mid to high handicaps. Removing the bunker makes the second or third shot a little more manageable for those who play around the water. The area has been filled now, and will be covered with new sod when it becomes available.

Greens on the back-9 will be aerated on Monday, May 29th. Play will be 9-holes only in the morning. Tee-times after 11 will likely be able to make the turn and play the back-9 providing the work is complete. Aeration can be affected by weather and could be delayed by rain or cooler weather.

In the meantime, please remember to fix pitch marks on the greens. They can be difficult to see in the evening sun, so pay particular attention on Men's Night and any twilight golf.

Congratulations to John Craig on his Hole-in-One yesterday on Hole #8…and Jim Hauberg, also yesterday on Hole #8.

Men’s Night next week is sponsored by Bud Chisolm and Jim MacGowan (Delisle Golf Club)

Women’s Night next week is sponsored by Jim MacGowan (Delisle Golf Club)
