The Saskatoon Golf and Country Club was founded in 1907 when a group of golf enthusiasts met at the Empire Hotel to form the community's first golf club. Early rounds of golf were played on a 9-hole course on what is now Kinsmen Park.
The club moved to land south of the city near the Exhibition grounds in 1911. Construction of a new 18-hole course designed by William Kinnear began in 1928. The original clubhouse was moved to Lorne Avenue and renovations were completed for the course opening in 1931. The layout went unchanged for over 65 years, until it was re-routed in 1999 to accommodate a new clubhouse on Cartwright Street. The course was remodeled again by Ian Andrew in 2009.
Today, the course includes 7 holes from the original William Kinnear layout, and a front-nine by Ian Andrew designed to match the original style. The course features tree-lined fairways with small undulating greens.
Our modern clubhouse provides complete locker facilities, a pro shop and club storage. The dining area features two outdoor decks with scenic views of the course, offering a relaxing place to unwind after an enjoyable game of golf. Multiple banquet space choices cater to smaller groups, as well as larger events up to 120 attendees.
SGCC is home to an impressive parctice facility, including a double ended driving range, short game area, and two separate putting greens. A 3-Hole practice course adjacent to the range features regulation holes accessible anytime without reservation. The par-5, par-4, par-3 layout allows users to play and practice as they wish.
