Before you get too far into this update…the Annual Member Survey closes today at 12Noon. If you haven’t already taken part, click <HERE> to participate.
The 2025 Season wrapped up on Wednesday and staff is working to get the course ready for winter. That includes blowing out irrigation lines yesterday and today, as mowers continue mulching leaves. Next week staff will be gathering course fixtures like rakes, ball washers, benches, flags, etc. Greens, tees, and select fairway areas will be sprayed with a fungicide to combat various snow molds that can develop in the spring. Greens and tees are then top-dressed with sand and covered with permeable tarps. Our older poa annua greens on the back-nine are more sensitive to temperature swings and receive an additional layer of flax straw, covered with an ice tarp to keep any ice form forming on the green surface.
Including the irrigation blowout, we expect the course close-up to take about 6 working days and be complete by the end of next week. An if you’re wondering, that’s the same process followed every year.
2025 Rounds
The season closed with 39,124 total rounds played. That’s up 12.75% over last year and is the second highest total after 2021. Overall the weather was more consistent this year. Fewer days were lost compared to last year, and only 10 days had less than 100 players, 7 of which happened in September and October.
2026 Rates
Management and the Board are pleased to report on another very good year for SGCC. Next year’s budget has gone through the Finance Committee and was approved with a 3% increase on Membership Fees for 2026. It's smaller increase than last year, and the lowest of any recent year. The Board is excited for the future of the club. A New Maintenance Building is well underway, and ongoing capital reinvestment will continue with no additional assessment to the membership. The ability to make this happen comes from the ongoing support of our Members, and we thank you for this.

The “early payment incentive” is available again this year with 7 draws for a $500 pro shop credit. Members who pre-pay their 2025 dues are entered into the draws made every Friday at 12 Noon from November 7th until December 19th. You can only win once, but a payment before November 7th gives you 7 chances to be drawn.
A monthly payment program is also available, which doesn’t get you in on the draws, but does spread the fees evenly from November through October. There’s a little paperwork to get started which must be submitted by November 10th as payments are taken on or around the 15th of each month. Click <HERE> to request the monthly payment forms.
Clubhouse Hours Today and Next Week
The Office and Pro Shop are open from 9-4 today, but as of 9am there is still no water to the building. Work on the Mellville Street tie-in is ongoing, and we hope to have water again sometime this morning.
Next week the Office is open 9-4 Monday to Friday, but the Pro Shop will be closed Monday to Thursday as staff attend the Alberta Merchandise Show.
Have a Great Weekend
