It’s been just over two weeks since aeration and the greens have healed well. It’s a necessary evil to maintain healthy greens. Pulling a full core reduces compaction and adds new sand to the soil profile for better drainage. The greens were fertilized afterwards, which made them a little slower than usual this week. That and the mowers aren't as sharp with all the surface sand. Overall, the weather through the process has been ok. Cooler temperatures and no rain resulted in an average recovery time. Today’s treatment on the greens was a wetting agent to help them retain more moisture. Next week it will be an application of growth regulator and sharper reels for a smoother roll and better green speeds.

On another maintenance note, a new bent-grass nursery has been prepped and seeded to the right of hole #16. It's actually a revival of a previous nursery that was choked out by shade and poplar roots. It might look like a really wide cart path…but it’s not. Please be mindful of the ropes and signage to keep off the seeded area, as we grow a backup plan for bent-grass turf.

The Couples Classic is a 2pm shotgun start on Sunday with 116 players registered. Follow the scoring <HERE> on Sunday, as teams compete in a modified alternate shot format. It’s the “three-legged race” of golf tournaments with a coordination requirement and high potential for disaster.

The Partners Tournament on September 5-7 opened for registration today and sold out in minutes. <Click Here> for more information on the event and registration...as there is still an opportunity to get in. The waitlist only has 6 teams as of 1:30pm. Again, this event now includes one round of modified alternate shot to test the limits of partner golf.
