The Reliance Gregg’s Central Amateur is this weekend with rounds starting at 7am Saturday and Sunday. It’s two divisions this year with Championship Men and Senior Men (55 & over) playing in separate events flighted after the first round. Follow the action <HERE> on Golf Genius.

Congratulations to the SGCC Women’s Team on their win this year in the annual Captain’s Challenge versus Riverside CC. The team was Captained by Rose Halbach and included Lynne Lacroix, Judy Sefton, Laurie Evans, Sarah Henderson, Linda Meidl, Peggy Antonichuk, Anne Marie Schulte, Amanda Mearns, Judith Walshe, Leslie Gibb, Eleanor McIvor, and Audrey Folden. The team won 7.5 to 4.5 to take the trophy for just the second time in 10 years, but twice in the past 5 matches. And congratulations to Judy Sefton on her Hole-in-One at Riverside in the June 23 matches.

Course Etiquette reminders are something we announce from time to time as a reminder that being a Member at SGCC is about (among other things) a better golf experience. Members and guests play an important part of maintaining that experience:

  • Fixing Divots and Ball Marks are basic course etiquette. Carts come with sand bottles to make it easier to fill/repair divots. And of course, feel free to replace divots whenever possible. A clean divot replaced will heal faster than sanded divots, but we’re good with either. Sometimes a little of both is a nice treatment.
  • And fixing ball marks on the greens is another automatic, but sometimes it doesn’t seem that way. If your ball landed on the green, you should have something in hand to fix your mark. If you can’t find your own ball mark, touch up anything you see.

Men’s Night next week is sponsored by Collision Plus Autobody (Dale Huber)

Women’s Night next week is sponsored by an anonymous member.

SGCC Club Championship registration opens next Friday at 12Noon.

Note: The SGCC Website includes pages for SGCC Tournaments and SGCC Leagues. There are short descriptions of each event/league and a button that takes you to the Golf Genius Page for more information.

  • In the case of a tournament, the Golf Genius page will have event details on the landing page, and an opportunity to sign up when the registration is open.
  • The Golf Genius tournament page also includes a drop-down in the menu for "leaderboard" or "live scoring".
  • For Leagues, there’s information on the league, along with weekly registration, and a schedule in the drop-down menu.

Have a Great Weekend.
