As May comes to an end, we can look back at a 4-season experience, with the arrival of hot summer heat this week. Sunscreen and mosquito spray are recommended. A note went out yesterday on mosquito spray killing grass. Remember to move off the tees and greens when you spray. Otherwise, a reminder to stay hydrated in the heat. It's early for these kind of temperatures.
Last weekend’s Spring Thaw presented by Collision Plus Autobody was a great start to our tournament season. The winning team (in a chip-off) was Jeff Dornan, Nicklas Dornan, Scott Moore and Darin Boire. Full results are <HERE> on Golf Genius. A big thanks again to Dale Huber of Collision Plus.
Congratulations to Kim Brown on her Hole-in-One in the Sunday round of the Spring Thaw. That was hole #6. Then on Wednesday this week, Nicklas Dornan of the winning Spring Thaw team also had a Hole-in-One on #6...to match his father Jeff’s on opening day. Jeff scored his on Nick’s wife’s birthday, while Nick got his on the birthday of Jeff’s wife…otherwise known as Nick’s mom.
A TaylorMade club fitting day is scheduled for next Thursday (June 4th) from 2-7pm. Contact Sloane or Brennen: [email protected].
Pace of Play is always a hot topic, and has been tracked more closely this spring. May didn't provide a big sample of fuller days to review, but enough to see what’s happening on busy days. A summary for May has been completed, along with general takeaways available <HERE>. Remember that the points represent general findings and average pace over a sample of our busiest days. Overall pace was 4 hours or less on many days in May...but there will be busier days ahead. Keeping up to the group in front by playing ready golf is critical. The document includes tips for anyone interested in learning more about ready golf.
Flags were lowered last week for the passing of Mel Humble on May 15th. Mel was a 35-year member of SGCC and a regular in Club events. He would have been 91 yesterday.
